Berkshire’s unitary authorities; 2012-present

Design South East – Berkshire Review Panel

The Thames Valley is one of the fastest growing places in the country and this panel was commissioned to help to balance quantity and quality. It is a joint panel, shared by the six unitary authorities that make up Berkshire; Bracknell Forest, Reading, Slough, Wokingham and Windsor & Maidenhead.

We have reviewed some major developments, particularly office and mixed-use proposals in the centre of Reading and around its football stadium, and more recently in Maidenhead which is coming under pressure for higher density development and Slough town centres, where we have also reviewed council-led housing schemes. We have also reviewed proposals for major site allocations, including those in Wokingham.
