The Levelling Up White Paper (February 2022) sets out the Government’s programme for spreading opportunity more evenly throughout the UK. It covers transport, green industry, culture, devolution and town centre renewal, to name just a few topics. The White Paper insists that “by extending opportunity across the UK we can relieve pressures on public services, housing and green fields in the South East.” However, does this mean that Kent and the South East will be left behind? What does it mean for the planning and development sectors in Kent?
This Roundtable conversation will bring together key practitioners from across Kent and Medway to explore the promises and challenges of the Levelling Up White Paper. It will be chaired by Chris Lamb, Director of Design South East, and include a presentation/talk from a guest speaker. The Roundtable will use the Chatham House rule.
Date: Thursday 7th July 2022
