Design South East is one of the leading design support organisations in the UK. Influential, impartial and expert, we work across the greater south east to support a better built environment. As we extend our reach across the greater south east and we looking for an outstanding individual with a real commitment to our mission and with the experience, skills, and expertise to help to shape our future.

We developed the first regional Design Review Panel in the UK, the South East Panel, and we are reviewing many of the most significant projects in the south east, including major new settlements. We are extending our design review service into the east of England and we are continuing to evolve the process of design review. We led on the development of new models of review, promoting a collaborative and constructive dialogue as set out in our contribution to the Farrell Review.

Our independence and ability to act impartially is critical to our value, and this is as true for design review as it is for our work with communities. We have always promoted public participation, not least in our management of Spaceshaper, and we are now using these skills to develop new models of public engagement to facilitate a constructive dialogue between communities and the public and private sectors.

We are also leading on the debate about the issues that matter and later in the year will be bringing people together to talk about the 21st century garden city and planning for growth across the greater south east. We have also, in partnership with the Kent Planning Officers Group, developed Kent Design, a new county wide programme of events to bring people together to shape the built environment. The Board meets 5 times a year at locations throughout the greater south east. Sufficient time will also be required to promote the organisation, study papers ahead of meetings, to spend time with the executive and also to attend a number of sub-committees, sometimes as a guest and others as an active member.
