After nearly 15 years in practice, Chris broke out to form his own company which has grown to become one of the UK’s largest practices. Landmark projects include The Sammy Ofer Wing at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, the Royal National Theatre and the Tower of London.
Chris acted as the retained consultant for the University of Warwick from 2003- 2014. He then moved on to design the recently completed Green Heart at the University of Birmingham, a £15M public realm scheme covering 5 hectares. Since 2018 he has been working with Arup on the Interchange Station for HS2. In November 2018 Churchman’s design for South Gardens, Elephant and Castle received the Presidents’ Award from the Landscape Institute, the highest accolade that can be bestowed on a landscape scheme.
