Alan Shingler

Alan qualified as an architect in 1996 after studying at Leicester Polytechnic / De Montfort University. Joining Sheppard Robson in 1998 he became a Partner in 2006 and was appointed Chairman in 2019.

As well as Alan’s leadership role at Sheppard Robson, he remains an active member of the practices Design Review Group which coordinates, critiques and promotes design creativity. His career has been shaped by the pursuit of sustainable innovation, influencing his approach to architecture and the projects he leads. He chaired the RIBA Sustainable Futures Group and was a RIBA National Councillor for six years between 2008-14.

Alan’s portfolio of completed, award-winning work at Sheppard Robson includes Arup Headquarters London, The Lighthouse @ BRE, Camden Courtyards, Barking Riverside, Siemens Middle East Headquarters, and most recently, House Hounslow, a distinctive new civic headquarters for the London Borough of Hounslow. Ongoing work includes numerous major residential and regeneration projects, such as East Wick & Sweetwater- Olympic Park, Plots 18.02 & 18.03 Greenwich Peninsula – LB Greenwich, Grand Union – LB of Brent, EC2 at Earls Court – LB of Hammersmith & Fulham
