Catherine is a founding partner of Burd Haward Architects (BHA), an award-winning small practice known for their distinctive, carefully crafted housing, arts and education projects, and for their collaborative work on larger scale urban and cultural masterplans. Catherine has authoritative knowledge of conservation practice, and has led both innovative new build and complex conservation projects at a number of historically significant sites across the UK.
Alongside running her practice, Catherine is a passionate and effective advocate of the importance of good design in shaping healthy, liveable communities. She is Chair of both the LB Camden and RB Kensington & Chelsea Design Review Panels, and is a member of the LLDC (Olympic Legacy), Design Council and Oxford Design Review panels. She has sat on numerous architectural and construction industry award juries, has taught and lectured widely, and is currently external examiner on the International MArch at University of Ghent, Belgium.
