Peter Dijkhuis

Peter is involved in planning and development consultancy with the purpose of providing a development viability + urban planning service. Peter has over 28-years’ experience working in the private sector in the UK, Ireland, China, India, UAE, Malaysia, and South Africa. He has acted as Project Manager and Lead Consultant undertaking a range of projects that have varied in scale and complexity. He has managed these projects from creating the client’s brief; inception at design concept and master planning stage; site appraisal and development viability testing; political and stakeholder consultation; preparing planning submission, through to gaining planning consent; and, facilitating exit strategies.

Peter differentiates himself in that he undertakes original research in terms of urban planning; understanding the relationship between accessibility, agglomeration benefits, and placemaking; and, how this impacts on investment decisions made across the real estate sector. He advises local authorities and the private sector on town centre strategies that draws on tenant requirements and locational branding.

Master/ urban planning is about realising change. Peter enjoys the challenge of creating a verifiable data base of socio-economic indices and demographic dynamic; working with agency consultancy within every real estate asset class, to inform a client’s development appraisal and project brief. Increasingly, in a changing and constrained market, Peter has been involved with the preparation and facilitation of complex public/private partnership’ development strategies undertaking consultation with political parties at local and national level to enable investment and realising development.

Recognising that local authorities are struggling with resources and expertise, and recognising that there is a time for giving something back to local community and creating a future for our children, Peter has over the last 4-years worked for several local planning authorities in their strategic planning – major applications teams reviewing applications, writing the Officer Report, and presenting to Planning Committee.
