Rochester Riverside is an award winning, medium density, mixed use neighbourhood leading the regeneration of Medway’s dockyards. In this half-day study tour, the local authority, developer and design team will present the story of the place and lead a guided tour of the development. Attendees will learn about the best practice planning process and design approach that has led to this beautiful new neighbourhood, which was named Housing Design Awards Winner of Winners in 2020.

This study tour will bring together Kent Design members and non-members together to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across the counties. The tour will last a half day and is accessible by train to Rochester Station, or car. 

Objectives:

  • Gain an insight into the roles and responsibilities of the client and design team.
  • Recognise best practice in housing design and masterplanning.
  • Understand how the local authority led the planning process to deliver a high quality outcome.

Getting to The Rochester Corn Exchange

By rail: Rochester Train Station is a short walk away with high-speed links to London and across Kent.

By car: it is a 50-minute drive from London and has direct links to the coast and Europe via the M2, M20 and Eurotunnel. There is a choice of pay and display car parks a short walk away.

By bus: 191, 140, 173 and 700 bus services.
