DCLG have announced new funding to help improve design quality and speed up housing growth. DSE can be your partner to deliver the outcomes required.
The Planning Delivery Fund includes streams for Joint Working, Design Quality and Innovation. The prospectus can be downloaded here. However, an early deadline for expressions of interest (11th January) and a requirement to spend money in this financial year makes applying for these funds a real challenge.
Already some local authorities have approached DSE to see if we can help them deliver activities supported by these funds. They are considering bids which blend in-house design capacity with advice, support and training from DSE. Our services provide just the sort of outcomes DLCG are looking for and as an independent entrepreneurial charity we can scale-up quickly to help local authorities achieve early results. Among the services we can offer to deliver the outcomes DCLG are looking for are:
- Charrettes to involve local stakeholders in the planning process and build a consensus for growth or to facilitate joint working between authorities.
- Planning and design workshops to help unlock difficult sites.
- Dedicated design panels to provide design advice, workshops and reviews for a local planning area or a major project.
- Training for officers and members to raise urban design skills and improve planning decisions.
