Dominic Gaunt

Dominic is a founder at Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt, an award-winning architecture practice that creates vibrant spaces and places full of character and life. Dominic is the practice’s creative director, ensuring the quality of our work is on point. He runs our review process to bring consistency in both our design approach and external communications.

Dominic has a broad range of cross-sector experience but has a particular interest in the education and cultural sectors. He is currently working with a number of Higher Education, Further Education and Independent School clients in addition to taking the lead on large-scale housing and mixed-use projects. Recent projects include the refurbishment of Memorial Hall – an iconic and much-loved Grade II Listed building for Marlborough College, designs for the University of Surrey’s campus expansion programme, and two net zero carbon education buildings for Arts University Bournemouth.

Dominic is a visiting professor at the Portsmouth School of Architecture and is focused on bridging the link between academia and practice. He is passionate about design quality and has acted as judge for a number of national and international award schemes. He sits on the Southampton City Council design review panel advising the local authority on design quality in the built environment and is a former chairman of RIBA Hampshire.
