Nick is the founding director of Hayhurst & Co. Architects. His practice specialises in education, community and residential projects that embed sustainability, promote placemaking and enable communities. His practice has won 10 RIBA Awards in the last 12 years as well as multiple Civic Trust, AJ and NLA Awards. The practice’s ‘Green House’ won RIBA House of the Year in 2023. Nick is co-Chair of the Brighton & Hove DesignPLACE panel, a co-Chair of the Croydon Design Review Panel and has acted as an Expert witness on design-related matters at Planning Inquiries. Nick is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Brighton and a Chair of RIBA Validation Boards of Schools of Architecture in the UK and overseas.
