Rafe’s role at the Enfield Council is Built Environment Sustainability Lead, working with Meridian Water, Housing Asset Management and Planning & Growth teams. He embeds climate action and sustainable strategies into the implementation of projects, urban design and infrastructure.
His priority on Meridian Water, a £6bn 25 year 10,000 hone regeneration programme, is implementing the Environmental Sustainability Strategy, a roadmap for a zero-carbon development by 2030 and includes targets on embodied energy, materials re-use and accessible green spaces. This is an industry wide endeavour, and he works closely with Developers, Designers, Manufacturers, Employers, Community, and an expert team of consultants. He has helped set up the Excess Material Exchange for the Borough and co-chairs the bi-monthly Circular Economy Construction Forum.
His work with Council Housing is to work with new and existing programmes to bring the average EPC rating of the 16,000 properties up to a B rating.
