Richard is a founding director of award-winning Birds Portchmouth Russum Architects. BPR established in 1989 having won an open architectural competition for a car park in the historic centre of Chichester which received high acclaim including RIBA Award and Civic Trust Award. Formerly Richard worked for James Stirling as a project architect on leading commissions.
Richard has particular specialist understanding of developing beautiful architecture in sensitive locations, both in outstanding rural and historically important urban settings. Richard has considerable experience in housing, education, cultural, infrastructure, and master-planning projects.
Since 1999 Richard has served on many design review panels in London and the South East. Richard is Deputy Chair for DSE and Co-Chair for Islington Design Panel.
