Bexley Design Review Panel

Design South East – Bexley Design Review Panel

The London Borough of Bexley is an outer London borough in south east London, on the edge of Kent and in the heart of the Thames Gateway, containing a unique combination of characteristics such as its industrial legacy, suburban character, Metropolitan Green Belt, and water courses. Bexleyheath is the borough’s main strategic centre whilst Sidcup, Welling, Crayford and Erith are additional major town centres. The relatively low rise, low density urban development across the borough means landscape remains prominent and is particularly important in the setting for heritage assets, conservation areas, listed buildings, locally listed buildings, scheduled monuments, and Registered Historic Parks and Gardens.

The Bexley Design Review Panel will help the council to ensure that growth in the borough is well planned, is of a high quality, brings with it benefits for all, and provides for a sustainable future whilst protecting and enhancing the much-valued and distinct character of the place. We will deliver independent design reviews for the council as part of the pre-application process, providing clarity of recommendations for applicant teams.
